Dreaming

Since the beginning of the year I’ve made it a goal to write down my dreams on a daily basis.  Some of my dreams are pointless, some of them are way out there, and then there are those dreams that give me the inspiration for a new story line in the series I’m trying to write.

Lucid dreaming is my ultimate goal where I’m able to control what I dream about, which would be awesome.  To think of all the possibilities!  I could seriously live in the world I’m creating!  Yes, to many I’ll sound crazy, but to those who know me and are writers too I’m sure they can appreciate the work that goes into describing a world unlike our own.

So far I’ve been able to jump back into the same dream and I’ve tried to ask myself if I’m dreaming, but then talk myself out of it because there was a bag of Doritos in my dream and they looked, sounded, and tasted too real for me to think I was dreaming (oh me haha).

Stephen LaBerge & Howard Rheingold wrote a book called, Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming.  They say you’re ready to lucid dream when you can recall a dream every night and you’re able to write a dozen dreams down.  After that, you need to find your dream sign.  Something that you dream about consistently.  Maybe it’s a smell, or something you see. Whatever it ends up being that’s when you know you’re dreaming.

We waste about a third of our lives sleeping, so instead of it being wasted away I can enjoy being awake in my dreams!

It’s gonna be LEGEN… wait for it, DARY!  Legendary!  On a random note, How I Met Your Mother is probably one of the best shows ever.  I find myself dreaming about the characters in that show all the time haha.
